Analysis

CATMA’s Analyze module supports the generation of Wordlists amongst its key automated functions. A wordlist displays all the words contained in your text, arranged in alphabetical order or according to their frequency in the text. You can select an individual word and inspect the different contexts in which it was used in the “KWIC” (keyword in context) pane. Examining the wordlist can be a first, revealing approach to each text, showing you lexical and stylistic characteristics of the text that might be the starting point for hypotheses and further investigation.

For more distinct analyses, CATMA’S Analyze allows you to execute Queries on a text. You can search the text for words, phrases, tags, or Properties, making your query as complex and specific as necessary, e.g. asking for the listing of a certain word only if it appears in a certain adjacency, or excluding certain results from the listing. For more information, see the section on Queries.
